The ride structure is going up at Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings, the Up attraction coming to Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris in 2027. New photos shared on October 29 show the framework of the swing ride being installed on site, the biggest visible step yet for the build.
Drew Smith posted a set of photos of the structure taking shape, along with a look at the artwork that will decorate it.

The attraction will feature hand-painted murals of Russell and Dug floating among balloons and is set to open in 2027 at Disney Adventure World. pic.twitter.com/aDmVQ8gHgK
The photos show the ride’s central tower already standing, topped by the spoked frame that will hold the swings and canopy. Crews in hard hats are using a lift to fit large painted panels around the tower, and one panel showing Russell floating with his balloons is already mounted.
Russell And Dug Join The Balloons
The murals are the fun part of this update. The ride will carry hand-painted scenes of Russell and Dug drifting among balloons, which fits a ride built around the feeling of floating away like Carl’s house. Another photo shows an artist in a workshop hand-painting Dug with a bunch of balloons, surrounded by reference sketches of the dog in different poses. DLP Report also got a close look inside the installation and at the painted designs.

Earlier this month, balloons went into a second glass dome on the site, which we showed in our look at the Up balloons at Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. With the ride framework now in, the attraction is starting to look like a ride instead of a construction zone.
What Guests Can Expect
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is a family swing ride in the style of a classic flying-chair carousel. Disneyland Paris says it will seat 64 riders on 48 chairs, including several two-seat chairs so guests can ride in pairs. As it spins, the dome overhead will tilt to add to the sense of flight.
The name comes from the Wilderness Explorers, the scouting club Russell belongs to in Pixar’s Up, and the ride’s story has guests earning their Aviation badge to music from the film. It will sit on Adventure Way across from Raiponce Tangled Spin, mixing Art Nouveau and industrial touches like wrought iron arches with balloon and cloud details. A golden spike shaped like Carl and Ellie’s house will top the attraction.
The queue will be split into four zones, each tied to a key moment from the film, with props like Carl’s childhood aviator helmet and goggles and Ellie’s adventure book. Construction officially started in November 2025, and Disneyland Paris still has not named an exact opening date beyond 2027.
