Kingdom Hearts is taking center stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. As part of the full programming lineup announced by D23, the beloved crossover saga will receive its own dedicated panel, titled DEEP DIVE into KINGDOM HEARTS, on Saturday, August 15 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Celebrating The Saga That United Disney And Square Enix
Per the official description, attendees will “discover how this saga united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix, with insights from the creative minds, character voices, and more behind the magic.” The panel commemorates 25 years of the franchise, which began with the original Kingdom Hearts on PlayStation 2 in 2002, and that framing suggests a retrospective celebration featuring developers and voice talent from across the series’ history.
The panel arrives at a fascinating moment for the series. Fans have spent years waiting on Kingdom Hearts 4, which sends series hero Sora into the strikingly realistic city of Quadratum, and any appearance by the franchise at a major Disney event immediately fuels speculation about fresh news. We got our first new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer in years earlier this cycle, and a D23 stage would be a fitting place for Square Enix and Disney to share more.
Games Are Everywhere At D23 This Year
The Kingdom Hearts session is part of a broader gaming push at this year’s event, which also includes games at the Disney Entertainment Showcase for the first time, a Disney Lorcana panel from Ravensburger, a Disney Dreamlight Valley celebration, and the Disney Lorcana Challenge Championship Qualifier on the show floor.
