Fans have less than three months left to see Mickey and the Magician at Disneyland Paris. The Animagique Theater, the show’s home in World Premiere Plaza at Disney Adventure World, closes for an extended refurbishment beginning January 10, 2027, and is expected to stay closed for several months. Disneyland Paris announced the closure in late August, in its look ahead at 2027, and has not shared a reopening date.
Inside Mickey And The Magician
Mickey and the Magician debuted on July 2, 2016, and Laughing Place calls it one of Disney Adventure World’s most popular shows. It casts Mickey as a magician’s apprentice in a Paris workshop who is supposed to tidy up overnight but instead is transported into scenes from Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin and Frozen. Tinker Bell sets it all off with a scattering of pixie dust. The illusions were created by magician Paul Kieve, drawing on Georges Méliès and Robert-Houdin.
The Theater Has Only Ever Held Two Shows
The theater takes its name from its first show. Animagique, a black light spectacle in which Donald Duck wanders into a forbidden Cinematheque and stumbles into scenes from Dumbo, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, opened with the park on March 16, 2002 and ran until January 31, 2016. The building was then reworked and renamed the Animagique Theater, and Mickey and the Magician opened there that July. The show went dark with the rest of the resort’s live entertainment in March 2020 and came back in an updated version on April 23, 2022, as part of the 30th anniversary celebration.
The building, originally at the entrance to Toon Studio, is now part of World Premiere Plaza, which opened in May 2025 during the park’s transformation into Disney Adventure World.
What The Closure Means For 2027 Trips
Anyone who wants to see the show should go before January 10. Disneyland Paris has not said what the theater work involves or whether the show will return in its current form.
What Else Is Coming To Disney Adventure World In 2027
Disney Adventure World still has new additions planned for 2027. The Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings, themed to Pixar’s Up, are set to debut, offering riders a bird’s-eye view of Adventure Way, and Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland returns in the spring.
