Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel closed to guests on October 12 for a comprehensive refurbishment. The 400-room Victorian-style hotel, the flagship of the resort’s three hotels, will stay closed for the entire project, and Disney has not announced when it will reopen.
What Is Changing
The hotel opened alongside the park in 2005. Work on its west wing had been underway since June while the rest of the building stayed open, but now the whole property is shut. Disney is calling the project “comprehensive enhancements” to the hotel’s facilities, services and overall guest experience.
Anita Lai, Hong Kong Disneyland’s vice president of communications and public affairs, told RTHK that the hotel will keep its “classic storytelling charm” while putting more emphasis on storytelling, immersive experiences and better service. “We have noticed that many tourists’ demands and preferences have changed,” she said. The redesign will add Disney movie-themed rooms, and Lai put it simply: “It’s time for a glow up.”
Where To Stay Instead
Guests are not short on options. Disney Explorers Lodge, with 750 rooms, and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, with 600, both stay fully open during the closure, giving the resort more than 1,300 rooms while the flagship is shut.
The hotel’s three restaurants closed with it, including Crystal Lotus, the Cantonese restaurant known for its character dim sum, which served its last meals on October 11.
Seasonal Dining Elsewhere At The Resort
The resort has spread its seasonal food across the park and the two hotels that remain open. Jack Skellington’s Nightmare Before Dinner is running at River View Cafe inside the park through November 1, with a fish skeleton-shaped main course, smoke-effect desserts and meet-and-greets with Jack Skellington, Sally and Oogie Boogie. Dragon Wind at Disney Explorers Lodge has a hairy crab dinner set with two whole crabs and Disney character crab roe dim sum through December 6, and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel adds a Worlds Collide platter from October 12 through February. Frozen-themed Olaf and snowman treats roll out in phases from November 19 through March.

Halloween Time is still running at the park too, including its new castle show.
What This Means For Your Trip
If you were hoping to stay at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel on an upcoming trip, you will need to book Explorers Lodge or Hollywood Hotel instead. Any dining plans at Crystal Lotus or Enchanted Garden will need to move to a restaurant that is still open, such as Dragon Wind at Explorers Lodge.
