Disney World Cut Margarita Prices At 15 Resort Bars In The Middle Of A Massive Price Hike

Walt Disney World raised prices on nearly 2,800 menu items across its parks, resort hotels and Disney Springs this week. In that very same round of changes, 107 prices went the other way.

The cuts are a sliver next to the increases, but they are real, and a few of them are big. A bottle of Conundrum Red at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace now costs $79, down from $89. The Annapurna Zing cocktail at Tiffins in Disney’s Animal Kingdom fell from $19.50 to $16.00. Over at Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar dropped its bottle of Don Miguel Gascón Malbec from $59 to $56.

Margaritas Got Cheaper At The Resort Pool Bars

The cut most guests will actually notice is the margarita. The Strawberry Margarita fell from $18.50 to $17.00 at 15 resort hotel bars and grills, most of them by the pool, including Grandstand Spirits at All-Star Sports, Hurricane Hanna’s at the Beach Club, Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge, Cove Bar and The Sand Bar at the Contemporary, and the pool bars at both Port Orleans resorts. Singing Spirits at All-Star Music made the same move on its Sunset Margarita.

Spyglass Grill at Caribbean Beach and Dockside Margaritas in Disney Springs already charged $17.50, and both came down to $17.00 as well. The frozen version at Turtle Shack, the Old Key West pool bar, took the biggest margarita cut of all, from $19.50 to $17.00.

Table-service spots got in on it too. The Sunrise Margarita dropped from $20.50 to $19.00 at Chef Mickey’s, The Crystal Palace, The Plaza Restaurant, Grand Floridian Cafe and ‘Ohana.

An Allergy Upcharge Disappeared At Le Cellier

One of the more interesting cuts happened at Le Cellier Steakhouse in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion. The allergy-friendly version of its mascarpone and roasted garlic mashed potatoes was priced at $14.00, while the standard side was $10.50. The allergy-friendly side is now $10.50 too, so guests with food allergies are no longer paying $3.50 more for the same side. You can see the full Le Cellier menu here.

Something similar happened at ‘Ohana and Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. Their Lychee-Ginger Lemonade, a zero-proof drink made with Lyre’s Pink London non-alcoholic spirit, is now listed at $6.59, down from $13.50. That is the same price as the plain lemonade version sold at Kona Cafe and the Polynesian’s pool bars.

Small Trims On Beer, Whisky And Coffee

The rest of the cuts are smaller. Stella Artois dropped a quarter, from $12.25 to $12.00, at seven locations including Narcoossee’s and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Chimay Grand Reserve fell from $15.25 to $14.00 at Be Our Guest Restaurant and Narcoossee’s. The Macallan 18 went from $45.50 to $44.00 at Rose & Crown, Belle Vue Lounge and Yachtsman Steakhouse.

On the food side, the Avocado Breakfast Bowl at Spyglass Grill fell from $10.99 to $8.99, a box of six macarons at Amorette’s Patisserie went from $16 to $14, and the Grilled Chicken at Rose & Crown Dining Room dropped from $15.50 to $13.00. BoardWalk Deli cut its latte and cappuccino from $5.59 to $4.99, which lines them up with the $4.99 price that coffee moved to around property in this week’s increases.

The Increases Still Win By A Mile

None of this offsets the bigger picture. For every price that went down this week, roughly 26 went up. A family eating mostly quick-service meals and snacks will still pay more than they would have last week.

Where the cuts help is at the bar. If your Disney World routine includes a margarita by the pool or a nightcap at a resort lounge, a lot of those drinks just got a little cheaper, even as thousands of other prices went up.
