The witching hour finally has a date. FX has announced that American Horror Story: 13, the long awaited thirteenth installment of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology, will premiere Thursday, September 24 at 9 p.m. ET on FX and Hulu, with the season streaming globally on Disney+ internationally.
An All-Star Reunion
Season 13 is shaping up to be a reunion of the franchise’s biggest names. Jessica Lange returns for her first season since 2018’s Apocalypse, while Sarah Paulson is back as Cordelia Goode, the Supreme of the Coven. The cast also includes Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman, with John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, and Matt Fraser reportedly returning as characters from previous installments.
Franchise newcomers include pop superstar Ariana Grande, cult filmmaker John Waters, Paul Anthony Kelly, Berto Colón, and Joey Pollari. The official logline teases fans to “light your candles, draw your pentagrams and prepare for a supreme surprise,” fueling widespread speculation that the season will revisit the world of 2013’s Coven.
Sinister Sweets At San Diego Comic-Con
Per Deadline, FX is celebrating with a “13 Flavors” activation at San Diego Comic-Con, running July 23 through 26. Four AHS themed ice cream trucks will roll through the Gaslamp Quarter serving flavors inspired by past seasons, and fans can pose for photos with Rubber Man, Twisty the Clown, the Witch, and other iconic characters. On Saturday evening, fans will be invited to a secret location to experience the mysterious “13th scoop,” while teaser art will cover one side of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
American Horror Story has earned more than 100 Emmy nominations since 2011 and has been streamed over 700 million hours worldwide. The new season joins a busy slate at FX, which also has Ryan Murphy’s The Shards arriving this summer with original music from Troye Sivan and Leland.
