Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Tracking For A $180 Million Opening, The Biggest Of 2026

Peter Parker is about to save the summer box office. According to a new exclusive report from Deadline, Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung onto three-week tracking with projections indicating a $180 million to $190 million domestic opening when it hits theaters on July 31.

Second Only To No Way Home

If those numbers hold, Brand New Day would deliver the second biggest opening in the history of the Spider-Man franchise, behind only 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and its massive $260.1 million debut. It would also easily claim the biggest domestic opening of 2026 so far, surpassing Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, which launched with $159.6 million earlier this summer.

Per Deadline’s report, first choice interest currently sits behind No Way Home but ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The under 25 male demographic is reportedly huge for the film, running ahead of all of those comparable titles, including No Way Home itself.

Doing It Without IMAX

What makes the projection even more impressive is that Brand New Day will open without IMAX screens, as those premium auditoriums are committed to Universal’s Christopher Nolan epic The Odyssey in a three-week booking. The Tom Holland sequel, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, already posted the best first day presales of any film in five years, a record previously held by No Way Home.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up four years after the events of No Way Home, with Peter Parker living anonymously in New York as a full-time Spider-Man while a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced. Jon Bernthal makes his MCU film debut as The Punisher, and the wall-crawler is even swinging into other corners of the Disney universe, with Marvel Rivals Season 9 featuring tie-in content ahead of the film’s release.
