Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza now has teal and gold shingles in Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, at least for now. The gable shingles on the building that holds Archie’s and a new restroom complex were still gray and pitted on October 3. By October 12, BlogMickey’s photos showed a chocolate brown base with gold and teal pieces scattered through the rows, though it isn’t clear yet whether these are the final colors.
It is the latest bit of color for a building that has been moving through theming faster than its neighbors in the former Muppets Courtyard. Earlier this month, the red brick, bronze columns and cream trim looked finished, while some of the shingles were still waiting on color.
A Closer Look At The New Shingles
The gold shingles have a metallic sheen, while the teal ones have a speckled, pitted texture. Mixed together on the brown base, they give the gable a weathered, almost gingerbread look that plays off the riveted bronze columns below.
A second band of shingles runs beneath the cream sawtooth trim, next to one of those columns. This lower band is a darker brown with copper and bronze tones and teal-green patches that look like aged copper. The colors blend more softly than the bolder mix up in the gable.
Above the roofline, the weathered yellow water tower and its teal stack repeat the same palette, tying into the shingles below.
The Rest Of The Archie’s Facade
Red-painted brick runs across the walls, topped by the cream sawtooth trim that picks up the monster teeth first spotted on the facade in July. Cream surrounds frame the arched windows, each with a sawtooth sill, and warm orange panels fill the arches.
Scaffolding still wraps most of the building, so for now the new colors show between the poles. Restroom signage is already in place at ground level, below the scaffolding. The shingles cover the upper levels of the combined restaurant and restroom building.
The restaurant centers on Archie, the six-legged Fear Tech mascot from Monsters University, and replaces PizzeRizzo. The food is taking shape too, with Blort coming to Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza.
Work is moving elsewhere in the land as well. Imagineering has filed a permit naming a playground-equipment contractor, a sign that a Monstropolis play area is coming, and WDWMagic reported on October 15 that Imagineering has filed a new permit for Harryhausen’s, the land’s other restaurant.
When Archie’s Opens
Disney has said Monstropolis opens in phases beginning in 2027, with Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and the Glob Theater among the first locations. No specific date has been announced. The Monsters, Inc. door coaster at the back of the land will follow later, and Disney has not announced when it opens.
