Bob Iger has a new book on the way, and this time the subject is his comeback. It is called One Last Time: Managing Crisis and Building Resilience at Disney, and Random House will publish it on March 2, 2027.

Iger wrote it with Dan Schwerin, and it picks up where his first book left off. The Ride of a Lifetime, a No. 1 New York Times bestseller, came out in 2019, a few months before he handed the CEO job to Bob Chapek. One Last Time covers what happened after the board brought him back in November 2022.

“This is a comeback story,” Iger said in a statement. “It’s about what Disney needed to find its way back to its core values and what that journey taught me about leading in a time of unprecedented challenge and change.”

What The Book Covers

Random House describes it as “the candid inside story of the sometimes bumpy, never boring journey to reconnect a great company to its core values, while building a new, lasting foundation in a rapidly changing world.”

The book starts with Iger’s return to replace Chapek. From there, The Hollywood Reporter says it moves through the rush of AI disruption, the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, two proxy battles and the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes.

The publisher frames the whole thing as a leadership book. Iger thought he understood what it took to be a CEO, it says, but his second stint “was a crash course in answering today’s thorniest leadership challenges.” The question running through it is how to make hard calls “under high pressure and intense scrutiny, with imperfect information and conflicting priorities.”

Where It Lands

The timing puts Iger’s side of the story on shelves after a busy stretch of Disney books. Chapek’s own memoir came out this fall. Among other things, it describes Josh D’Amaro as the “tip of my spear” on the park reservation system, and it blames Iger for undermining his leadership after picking him for the job. Wall Street Journal reporter Robbie Whelan also has an unauthorized book about the company coming later this year.

Iger stepped aside as CEO again earlier this year, and D’Amaro now runs the company. Iger is still on Disney’s board but is set to leave it at the end of the year, which means One Last Time will arrive after he has left the company’s leadership entirely.
