Spider-Man: Brand New Day is passing No Way Home this weekend to become the third highest-grossing film in domestic box office history. Sony’s Saturday projections have the film adding $36.5 million in its fourth weekend, which would carry its North American total to $852.4 million through Sunday and move it past the 2021 film that has stood as the highest-grossing Spider-Man release for five years.

Third All-Time, And Only Two Films Left Above It

No Way Home finished with $814.8 million domestically, a figure that includes its 2022 re-release. Brand New Day was already past it by Thursday, sitting at $815.9 million, and the weekend adds the cushion. That leaves exactly two films ahead of it on the all-time North American chart: Avengers: Endgame at $858.3 million and Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $936.6 million.

Endgame is now within reach. At $852.4 million through Sunday, Brand New Day would need under six million dollars to take second place, which on current daily grosses is a matter of days rather than weeks. The Force Awakens is a longer proposition, and remains the only film ever to cross $900 million in North America.

Keep The Two Records Straight

This is a domestic milestone. Third all-time applies to North America only.

Worldwide, Brand New Day sits at roughly $2.078 billion, which makes it the eighth film ever to pass $2 billion, not the third. It became Sony’s biggest global release last weekend when it moved past No Way Home’s $1.9 billion, and this weekend it becomes Sony’s biggest domestic release as well.

A Fourth Straight Weekend At Number One

The weekend win is its own record. Four consecutive weekends on top makes Brand New Day the 2026 release with the longest run at number one, and it held the spot against a direct challenge from its own studio. Sony has both of the top two slots: Insidious: Out of the Further, from Screen Gems, Stage 6 and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, is projected at $23.7 million from 3,303 theaters on an $18 million budget.

Brand New Day took $9.8 million on Friday, with Insidious slightly ahead at $10.6 million including previews, but the Spider-Man film is expected to pull clear across Saturday and Sunday. Its third week closed with $100.1 million from 4,539 theaters, ahead of Endgame’s third week at $80.9 million and behind The Force Awakens at $118.4 million.

The Record Run So Far

The film has been rewriting the chart since it opened on July 31. It holds the biggest domestic opening weekend ever at $360 million, the biggest single day at $168 million, the biggest previews at $72 million, and it reached $800 million domestic in 19 days, the fastest any film has managed it and four days quicker than The Force Awakens.

We covered the earlier stages of that run when it became the fastest film ever to $700 million and crossed $2 billion worldwide, and when it took the all-time opening weekend record from Endgame.

These are studio projections issued Saturday morning, not final figures. Actuals arrive Monday and have moved before on this film, in both directions. The opening weekend was revised upward from $355 million to $360 million once Monday numbers landed.
