Starting in November 2027, the Disney Destiny will home port at Port Canaveral for the first time, sailing three to seven night cruises to The Bahamas and the Western Caribbean. The Disney Destiny Port Canaveral move puts it alongside the Disney Wish and the Disney Treasure, which means three Wish class ships will be based at the Central Florida port at the same time, a first for Disney Cruise Line.
The Destiny Leaves Fort Lauderdale
The Disney Destiny sailed its maiden voyage on November 20, 2025 out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, where its heroes and villains theme has anchored short Bahamas and Western Caribbean itineraries ever since. Under the new schedule, the ship opens the fall 2027 season in Fort Lauderdale with three to five night sailings, then relocates north to Port Canaveral in November.
Disney’s release frames the move around Walt Disney World. With three Wish class ships roughly an hour from the resort, families can pair a cruise with a parks stay more easily than before, and the line clearly expects the newest ships to be the ones guests want to combine with a Florida vacation.
What Each Ship Does From Port Canaveral
The Disney Wish returns to Port Canaveral after its fall 2027 New York and San Juan run, settling into three and four night Bahamian cruises that stop at Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. The Disney Treasure continues its seven night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, plus an eight night Eastern Caribbean sailing and a six night Bahamas cruise that visits Castaway Cay twice.
The older ships are not disappearing from the schedule. The Disney Dream sails three and four night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale in November 2027, and the Disney Fantasy sails from Port Canaveral from September through November on four and five night Bahamas and Western Caribbean trips before heading to San Juan in December. Across the season that puts five ships on the Port Canaveral schedule.
Why Port Canaveral Keeps Growing
Port Canaveral has been Disney Cruise Line’s home base since the Disney Magic debuted in 1998, and the line built a new terminal there for the Wish class. It has spent the past year topping industry rankings and expanding its onboard partnerships, including the Kraft Heinz deal, while its fleet grows toward the Disney Believe in late 2027. The Believe is the only ship left out of this announcement.
Early bookings for the fall 2027 and spring 2028 sailings open to select Castaway Club members on August 31, with general bookings on September 8. The Destiny move was part of the August 25 announcement, which also returned the line to New York City for the first time since 2023.
