Disneyland Files For 17 “Harbor Rideshare” Signs The Day Its New Rideshare Area Gets A Permit

Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort

Anaheim has cleared Disneyland to start building a new rideshare area. On October 21, the city issued a permit to rework drive aisles, build a pedestrian pathway and install 12 new light poles “at new rideshare location” at Disney California Adventure’s Gate 10, a backstage area of the park. The same day, Disneyland filed a second permit to put up 17 non-illuminated directional signs on poles for what the filing calls “Harbor Rideshare.”

Both filings were flagged by Theme Park IQ, which tracks permits at the resort and posted the pair together Wednesday evening.

A Permit That Started Out Confidential

The Gate 10 project is not brand new. Disneyland first filed it as a confidential permit in 2025, and the description only became public in September, when it surfaced as a new rideshare drop-off at the back of house with modified drive aisles, a new pedestrian path and light poles. Now that the permit is issued, Disneyland can begin the drive-aisle and lighting work.

The sign permit, filed October 21, attaches the name “Harbor Rideshare” to the project, and Theme Park IQ says the two filings are likely related. Disney Tourist Blog places the Gate 10 site near Harbor Boulevard and Disney Way, behind Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! and the Hyperion Theater. The sign permit does not say where the 17 signs will go.

Disneyland has already made one rideshare change on the other side of the resort. Disney says its Downtown Disney District rideshare area was refreshed, and in September Mickey Visit reported the area had opened in the Stitch parking lot, just outside the old ESPN Zone building that is now Lululemon. Disney has said pickup and drop-off will stay on both the east and west sides of the resort, though the areas may move around temporarily during construction.

Where Rideshare Drop-Off Is Today

Disneyland’s parking page lists two official pick-up and drop-off areas that taxis and rideshare drivers may use. The Harbor Boulevard area is entered from the right southbound lane of South Harbor Boulevard between South Manchester Avenue and Disney Way. The Downtown Disney District area is reached by taking Magic Way from Disneyland Drive, then turning left at Downtown Drive and following the signs.

Disney lists a 15-minute grace period at the Downtown Disney area before standard parking rates kick in, and brief waiting is allowed but parked or unattended vehicles are not. Until Disneyland announces a change, guests should keep using the official areas.

The rideshare filings are not the only arrival project in the works. Disneyland broke ground in August on its new parking structure. The resort has not said publicly when the new rideshare location will open or whether it will replace either of the current drop-off areas. We will keep an eye on the permit record as the signs and light poles go in.
