Figaro Has Gone Missing From His Window Perch At Disneyland’s Fantasy Faire

Fantasy Faire at Disneyland Park

Figaro, the kitten from Pinocchio, and the caged bird that kept him company are gone from their window ledge above the princess area at Disneyland Park’s Fantasy Faire, according to photos taken Tuesday night by theme park update account TustinRaider (Raider Lost in the Parks).

The photos show a carved wooden ledge jutting out beneath a half-timbered dormer with a red-framed window, and a small gold birdcage still sits on the sill. Apart from the empty cage, the ledge is bare, with ivy trailing down the timbered wall below.

No Word Yet On Why

Disneyland has not said anything about the figures or listed a refurbishment for Fantasy Faire. It’s not clear yet whether Figaro is getting a touch-up, being replaced or leaving for good. If you are in the park this week, look up at the window ledge beside Troubadour Tower to see it empty.

Figaro first appeared as Geppetto’s kitten in Pinocchio in 1940, sharing the woodcarver’s workshop with Cleo the goldfish. He proved popular enough to get his own animated shorts a few years later, starting with Figaro and Cleo in 1943, and he later turned up as Minnie Mouse’s pet cat in several cartoons. At Fantasy Faire, the animated figure dozed on his ledge beside a caged songbird whose chirping would wake him.

What Is At Fantasy Faire

Fantasy Faire opened in March 2013 as a dedicated home for Disney princesses near Sleeping Beauty Castle. On Disneyland’s Fantasy Faire page, the area is billed as a place to visit with Disney Princesses at Royal Hall, attend live shows, shop, snack and “revel in pure fairytale enchantment.” Storytelling performances run at the Royal Theatre, and the Fairy Tale Treasures shop is part of the area too.

The empty ledge doesn’t affect meet-and-greets or shows, so princess fans can plan their day as usual.

Nearby, snow and icicles have been spreading across Sleeping Beauty Castle as Disneyland dresses the park for the holidays. We will let you know if Figaro returns to his ledge or something new takes his place.
