Abbott Elementary is back with its biggest audience in a year. The Season 6 premiere reached 6.3 million viewers across all platforms in its first seven days, the comedy’s best seven-day number since October 2025, Variety reported exclusively Wednesday.

The episode premiered October 7 on ABC. That 6.3 million is 7% higher than last year’s Season 5 premiere, which drew 5.9 million over the same seven days, and it is the show’s biggest audience since the third episode of Season 5 aired on October 15, 2025. Director Randall Einhorn had teased before the premiere that the first episode might feature some people who are “famous in Philly, and the world,” and it did, with cameos from Philadelphia 76ers players Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Jaylen Brown.

Most Of The Audience Watched Later

Of those 6.3 million viewers, only about a third watched the night it aired. On October 7 itself, the episode drew 2.2 million viewers and a 0.33 rating among adults 18 to 49. Everything after that came from streaming and other delayed viewing, which pushed the audience up 183% and the demo rating up 527% by the end of the week.

The seven-day 2.07 rating among adults 18 to 49 is the show’s best in more than 18 months, since the 19th episode of Season 4 aired March 26, 2025. It is also 16% above the Season 5 premiere’s 1.79. On streaming alone, the premiere posted the show’s strongest week since the ninth episode of Season 4 in January 2025.

What’s New In Season 6

Season 6 brings new jobs to the staff room. Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams) is now the assistant principal, and Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) has become the teachers’ union representative. She is also clashing with a new teacher, according to the cast. The show took its 100th episode to Disneyland this month, where the cast was spotted filming in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, and a run of guest stars is lined up for the season.

Quinta Brunson created the series and leads the cast as Janine Teagues, a second-grade teacher at an underfunded Philadelphia public school. Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker are the showrunners, and Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television co-produce the series.

How To Watch

New episodes of Abbott Elementary air Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and each one streams the next day on Hulu, including Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. The premiere and later episodes are streaming now on Hulu, and the Disneyland episode is set to air as the fall finale in December.
