Three themed stands have gone into Droid Depot at Disneyland, and they are being built for the animatronic Anzellan droidsmiths Walt Disney Imagineering showed off at D23. Built-in shelving inside the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge shop has been cleared out and rebuilt to make room, with surrounding wall panels and shelves added so the characters have an environment to react to.

What Is Actually In The Shop
The work is visible to guests walking through Black Spire Outpost. A section of built-in shelving has been emptied and reworked, and three stands now sit in the space, each dressed to look like a droidsmith’s own workspace rather than a display case. The panels and shelves around them are part of the same build, giving the figures props and surfaces to work against.
Disney has not announced an opening date. The construction visible inside the shop is the only public indication of timing so far, and installation work like this can sit finished for weeks before the figures themselves arrive.
Who The Anzellans Are
Anzellans are the same species as Babu Frik, the small droidsmith introduced in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker who became one of the more unexpectedly popular characters in the sequel trilogy. In canon they are known for repairing and modifying droids, which makes a droid workshop the obvious place to put them.
Droid Depot already lets guests pull parts off a conveyor belt and assemble their own astromech units, so the Anzellans slot into the existing premise of the shop rather than adding a separate experience alongside it.
From The D23 Show Floor To Batuu
The figures were shown publicly at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event as part of Imagineering’s presentation of projects in development. Guests at the Inside the Imagineering: Horizons pavilion could get close to the Anzellan Creature Workshop and see the animatronics in operation.
That pavilion also introduced Hugo’s Sweets and Fizz, an animatronic food truck show that is expected to eventually reach the Disneyland Resort. Both projects sit in the same category of small, character-driven figures rather than large ride systems, and the Anzellans appear to be the first of them to reach a park.
Part Of A Wider Push
Imagineering has been steadily moving free-roaming and expressive animatronics out of the lab and into guest areas, a program that has included robotic dolphins, a Moana manta ray and a hovering Star Wars food droid. Putting three of them behind a counter in an existing shop is a low-risk way to get the technology in front of guests every day.
For now the stands are in and the shelving around them is taking shape. Guests visiting Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland can watch the space come together, but the droidsmiths themselves have not moved in yet.
