The Casita is starting to get its mountains. The upcoming Encanto attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has reached its latest construction milestone, with steel pieces now being installed for the mountainous rockwork that will surround the attraction’s show building in the new Tropical Americas area.
Building The Mountains Of Colombia
The steel framework going up now will eventually be sculpted into the towering mountain range that defines the Encanto’s hidden valley in the film. Rockwork steel is one of the most visually dramatic phases of any Disney construction project, since it reveals the true scale and silhouette of a land long before theming and paint arrive. Once the sculpting begins, the structure will transform into the lush Colombian landscape surrounding the Madrigal family’s magical Casita.
The Encanto attraction is one half of the massive Tropical Americas expansion, which is replacing DinoLand U.S.A. and also includes an Indiana Jones adventure. Vertical construction across the site has been moving at a steady clip all year.
Tropical Americas Keeps Taking Shape
Disney has said Tropical Americas is targeting a 2027 opening, and the pace of visible progress suggests the project remains one of the fastest-moving expansions at Walt Disney World. Each new milestone brings the Madrigals a little closer to welcoming guests into their world.
