The Grand Floridian Cafe is on track to reopen November 2 after a refurbishment that has kept it closed since July 20. Dining reservations and dinner hours for that date appeared on Walt Disney World’s website on September 3, with dinner listed from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Disney has not announced the date directly, and the restaurant’s own page still lists it as closed through October, so the November 2 return is inferred from the booking calendar rather than confirmed.
The pattern is the same one that revealed the closing date in June, when the cafe’s dinner hours disappeared from the calendar before Disney confirmed the closure. Dinner availability now resumes November 2, which lines up with the mid-July through October window Disney gave when the refurbishment was first announced this spring.
Brunch Has Been At Citricos Since July
The cafe’s popular brunch never stopped. Disney moved it one floor up to Citricos for the length of the closure, where it runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the same menu. The reservation calendar currently shows only brunch through November 1 and adds dinner from November 2, though it does not yet list brunch on the reopening date itself, which could mean a staggered return or simply an incomplete listing.
Disney has not detailed what changes inside the restaurant. The cafe sits just off the main lobby on the first floor and has been the last major dining room at the resort untouched by the multi-year refresh that has already delivered a new lobby and the Birdcage Bar last Christmas and the reopened Garden View Lounge this spring after a six-year closure. Work on other parts of the resort, including the covered entrance, continues through early 2027.
A New Resort Entrance Opens September 10
Guests driving to the Grand Floridian have a more immediate change coming. New roadway signage points to a September 10 opening for a new resort entrance. The signage does not say what is changing, Disney has made no announcement, and the company did not respond to a request for detail.
The context is the World Drive North Phase III project. Plans filed in September 2025 and approved by the South Florida Water Management District in November call for extending the Grand Floridian’s main entrance roadway roughly 200 feet to meet the southern of two new roundabouts, with the northern roundabout serving the cast member parking area and the resort’s exit. The plans also convert the existing Floridian Way into a one-lane, one-way exit and build a new entrance to the wedding pavilion south of its current spot. The first roundabouts along Floridian Way opened to traffic August 10 with temporary connector driveways at the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian’s Island Tower and the wedding pavilion.
It is not clear whether September 10 delivers the permanent extended entrance or another interim step, since the full roadway project, delayed by roughly 15 months earlier this year, is not due to finish until December 2027. Either way, guests arriving by car in the coming weeks should expect new signage, active construction and law enforcement directing traffic around the resort.
The Grand Floridian has had a year of changes on its calendar, including the confirmation that the lobby gingerbread house will not return this holiday season.
