New light fixtures are going up around Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree at Disneyland, the first visible sign of a bigger refresh planned for the Bayou Country restaurant. The new lights went up this week along the walkway outside the restaurant.

The work lines up with a City of Anaheim building permit for the restaurant. The plans call for more and better lighting, a bigger ground-floor patio, a new fabric cover over the upstairs canopy and a small electrical room in the basement. The city signed off on the latest revision of the plans on October 16, and the lights are the first part of the project guests can see.
More Seating Could Be On The Way
The bigger change for guests should be more outdoor seating on the ground floor. Hungry Bear already seats guests on two levels of outdoor patios overlooking the river. There’s no timeline yet for the seating or the new canopy cover, so we’ll be watching for the next phase.
Rancho Del Zocalo Wraps Up Its Own Refresh
Over in Frontierland, Rancho del Zocalo has finished part of its refurbishment. The archway and fireplace have been redone, with patches of exposed brick showing through the plaster, and work has moved to the restaurant’s entrance passage, which is covered in tarps. The restaurant is open, so you can still grab lunch there while crews work, including the nachos, shrimp cocktail and horchata slushies that joined the menu in September.
The archway and fireplace at Rancho del Zocalo, the latter of which was built in 1955 for the park’s short-lived blacksmith shop, have finished their refurbishment. Work is now underway at the entrance passage to the restaurant.

Between these two projects and a fresh coat of paint at Adventureland Bazaar, a lot of Disneyland is getting spruced up before the holidays.
