The mysterious theater show coming to Monstropolis just took another step forward. Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement permit for electrical work at The Glob, the former Muppet*Vision 3D venue being converted as part of the Monsters, Inc. themed transformation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Another Contractor Joins The Project
According to Blog Mickey, the filing names Elite A/V Systems Inc. as the contractor, with Walt Disney Imagineering listed as owner at an address matching The Glob theater building. The description of the work reads simply “Electrical Work,” with no further detail on scope. Elite A/V is a familiar name on Imagineering projects, regularly handling entertainment technology and show systems, which suggests the building is moving beyond basic construction and into the technical stages that prepare an attraction for operation.
The Story So Far
Disney has confirmed The Glob will house a theater show, and on a recent hard hat tour, Imagineering executives shared that the show will be packed with technology, though the experience itself remains unannounced. The venue’s conversion has been tracked through a steady string of permits. Disney removed Muppet*Vision 3D’s wait time and Lightning Lane signage in October 2025, filed a set installation permit in March 2026 alongside concept art renaming the venue from “The Monstro” to “The Glob,” and added four more Monstropolis permits in early April. Disney then confirmed The Glob and Harryhausen’s by name in official H.U.M.A.N. Day backstory materials released June 4.
The theater will anchor Monstropolis alongside the land’s headline attraction, a first of its kind suspended coaster inspired by the Door Vault sequence from Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. With D23 arriving in August, many fans are hoping Disney will finally reveal exactly what awaits inside The Glob.
