Walt Disney World has finally put real names and full descriptions to the two new shows debuting at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, with the first party of the season set for August 7.
Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup and Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash had both been sitting on Disney’s own event schedule for months under placeholder names, listed only as A Masquerade with Stitch and a vague reference to Captain Jack Sparrow pirate antics in Adventureland. The Disney Parks Blog has now filled in the rest, along with the party exclusive merchandise.
Stitch Raids Lilo’s Costume Trunk
Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup takes over the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland and is built as an interactive dance party rather than a stage show. The premise is that Stitch and his ohana cannot settle on a Halloween look, so every accessory he pulls out of Lilo’s costume trunk triggers a new theme for the whole dance floor. Disney says it includes interactive games and candy giveaways alongside the music and video.
Lilo and Angel appear with him. The show replaces the Zom-Beatz Bash, which was tied to last year’s Zombies film, and with an all-ages show now occupying Rockettower Plaza, the Destination DescenDANCE Party moves back to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.
Captain Jack Recruits A Crew Outside Tortuga Tavern
The Adventureland addition has a specific home, staged outside Tortuga Tavern. Captain Jack Sparrow arrives looking for new crew members and sets about teaching them to be pirates, backed by live sea shanties, jugglers and a run through sailor superstitions.
Both shows run on all 38 party nights rather than rotating in later in the season, so anyone attending opening night on August 7 gets the same lineup as a guest arriving on Halloween itself.
The Party Exclusive Merchandise
Disney also revealed this year’s exclusive merchandise, sold only at Magic Kingdom during the event. The apparel runs on a gray, black and orange palette with double sided artwork featuring Mickey, Minnie, the Sanderson Sisters, the Hitchhiking Ghosts and the Headless Horseman across crewnecks and adult tees.
The rest of the collection includes Not-So-Scary ears with a removable bat, a Loungefly backpack carrying the Headless Horseman, a Mickey Mouse vampire plush keychain, a vampire Mickey mug, a Cinderella Castle ornament and a magnet frame. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders get a separate exclusive range on top of that.
Nights Are Already Going
The party runs 38 select nights from August 7 through October 31, from 7:00 PM to midnight, with party ticket holders admitted from 4:00 PM. Tickets range from $119 to $229 plus tax, and Annual Passholders and DVC members save $10 on nights between August 7 and October 2.
Several dates have already sold out, including opening night and Halloween night. Anyone still deciding should check remaining availability before the season starts, since inventory moves as the first parties approach.
