Claims spread quickly across social media on Friday that the official D23 website had revealed a new unannounced Pixar film will be announced during next month’s event. According to Disney reporter Scott Gustin, that is simply not true.
Where The Claim Came From
The report originated with a post stating that the D23 website reveals a new unannounced Pixar film will be announced on Friday, August 14 during the Disney Entertainment Showcase. The post pointed to an untitled Pixar film supposedly dated for March 10, 2028, alongside The Incredibles 3, as evidence that a reveal was coming. Within hours, the claim had been repeated by numerous aggregator accounts and fan sites as confirmed fact.
Gustin publicly pushed back, telling the sites and accounts repeating the headline that “this report is false” and clarifying that the D23 website makes no such statement about an unannounced Pixar reveal at the event.
What Is Actually Confirmed For The Showcase
None of this means Pixar will be absent from D23. Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios are joining forces for a show floor pavilion that also celebrates Pixar’s 40th anniversary, featuring artist demonstrations, autograph signings with filmmakers, fan giveaways, and interactive displays tied to upcoming films from both studios, including Disney’s Hexed, Disney Animation’s Frozen 3, and Disney and Pixar’s Gatto and Incredibles 3. Surprise announcements are always possible at these presentations. The distinction is that nothing on the official D23 website promises one.
