Epic Games and Disney haven’t formally announced the Coco collaboration yet, so there’s no release date or price for the Dante Sidekick, and no word on what else is coming with it. Since the details come from a leak, the final lineup could still change before it reaches the Item Shop.
Why Dante Fits As A Sidekick
Sidekicks are the companions Epic added to Fortnite in November 2025. They follow players around the map, copy emotes and react to the action, but they don’t give anyone a competitive edge. Most can be customized when you first get them, and they earn Sidekick Points that unlock more cosmetics over time. The first wave put Peels in the Battle Pass, with Bonesy, Spike and Lil’ Raptor following in the Item Shop days later. They work in Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite and other Epic-made modes, Shacknews reported at launch.
That makes Dante an easy pick. In the film he’s a scruffy, tongue-out Xoloitzcuintli who tags along with Miguel into the Land of the Dead. A cartoon dog that trots behind your character and reacts to everything you do is very much who Dante already is.
Pixar Keeps Showing Up In Fortnite
Coco would be the latest Pixar film to land in Fortnite. Earlier this fall, Toy Story 5: The Great Toy Rescue scattered Woody, Buzz and four more toys across Fortnite in a limited-time event. Disney and Epic have worked closely together since Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games in 2024, and Disney franchises from Star Wars to Marvel have long been part of the game. In September, the Kingdom Hearts Fortnite drop added four outfits, the Keyblade and two Jam Tracks.
Coco opened in theaters in November 2017 and won two Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Remember Me.” The film follows Miguel, a young musician who ends up in the Land of the Dead on Día de los Muertos, and this leak arrived just ahead of this year’s holiday on November 1 and 2.
