Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Rex, Hamm and Forky have been scattered across Fortnite, and players have until October 5 to bring them home in Toy Story 5: The Great Toy Rescue, a limited-time island that launched Tuesday, one day before Toy Story 5 began streaming on Disney+.

The event is the first time Disney and Pixar have connected a Disney-branded adventure across several creator-made islands in Fortnite. It runs through October 5 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific, and the hub island can be found in game with the code 6059-3243-8283.
A launch trailer released Tuesday opens on Jessie and Buzz in Bonnie’s room before a rift pulls the toys away, then shows Fortnite players breaking into the room to start the search.
How The Rescue Works
The story starts in Bonnie’s imagination, where a Fortnite rift tears open and flings her toys out into other islands. Her room serves as a permanent home base built at toy height, so everyday furniture becomes terrain to climb and explore, with hidden imaginary spaces tucked around it.
From there, players track down each missing toy on a different creator-made island. Each rescue has its own task and its own Toy Story reward.
Forky is found by tracking down a stash of paperclips. Hamm comes back once players collect enough coins. Woody’s rescue is a two-person squad competition built around gathering crayons. Rex needs a broken necklace repaired. Jessie returns when players collect Bullseye’s horseshoes. Buzz Lightyear is the most physical of the six, asking players to climb, leap and outmaneuver rivals while collecting batteries.
Returning toys to Bonnie’s room unlocks new abilities and gear for exploring the hub island further. They include a jump pad, flint knock, pickaxe, lift strength, teleport and a cobweb slip.
Tied To Today’s Disney+ Premiere
The island is timed to Toy Story 5 arriving on Disney+ on September 23, a day after the film came out on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. The film returns Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of Bonnie’s toys for a new chapter and introduces a new generation of toys.
Fortnite is free to play on consoles, PC and mobile, so no purchase is needed to join the rescue. Players can search the island by name or enter the code from the Discover screen.
Disney’s Latest Fortnite Crossover
Disney’s previous Fortnite tie-in was the Kingdom Hearts drop earlier this month, which brought four outfits, a Keyblade and two Jam Tracks into the game. The Great Toy Rescue works differently. It is a playable adventure spread across a hub island and several partner islands, and its Toy Story rewards come from completing each rescue.
With the rescue running just under two weeks, players who want every reward will need to finish all six missions before the island closes at the end of the day on October 5.
