Polynesian Village Resort Construction Now Runs Into Early 2027

Construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is going to last longer than planned. An updated refurbishment notice from Walt Disney World now says work at the resort will continue through early 2027, after Disney had previously expected to wrap it up by the end of 2026, a target Disney had used since July 2024.

The new wording, first spotted by Blog Mickey, reads: “Through early 2027, some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway.”

What Is Still Being Built

The project is the long rework of how guests arrive at the Polynesian. When Disney announced the new entrance in June 2025, its notice covered work from May 2025 through 2026 and described the job as reconfiguring “the front entrance roadway and bus area.”

The bus area has since dropped out of the notice, likely because that part is finished. The resort’s new bus loop opened on July 13, 2026, with a covered shelter near the Great Ceremonial House, the main building at the heart of the resort. The new main entrance at Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way has been in use since December 2025, giving drivers a straight approach to the Great Ceremonial House.

What is left is the roadway around the front of the property, part of a wider set of road changes around Floridian Way that have reshaped how cars reach the resorts near the Magic Kingdom. When the new entrance opened last December, Disney expected roughly one more year of roadway work around the nearby intersection, so early 2027 pushes the finish line a little further out. Disney has not said which pieces of the roadway are still unfinished.

What It Means For Your Stay

If you are booked at the Polynesian this winter, expect to see construction near the front entrance, and give yourself some extra time when driving in or out. Disney’s notice also warns that “some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted,” which is worth keeping in mind if you paid extra for a theme park view room.

One small change in the wording deserves attention. The 2025 notice promised that all resort dining, pools and amenities would stay available. The new one says “most” of them will, and Disney did not spell out what falls outside that “most.” Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace has been closed since April during exterior work on the Great Ceremonial House, and Disney’s most recent target for its return was late October.

The updated notice also drops the 9 a.m. start time for noisy work that appeared in an earlier Disney construction notice for the resort. For now, the official expectation is simple: the front of the Polynesian stays a work zone through the holidays, and Disney is aiming to have the job done in early 2027.
