The Muppets are getting the full orchestral treatment from one of Hollywood’s most devoted crooners. Seth MacFarlane is working on a Muppets orchestral album, and he will share the inspiration behind the project during a dedicated panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this August in Anaheim.
The Muppets Musical History With Seth MacFarlane
The panel, titled The Muppets Musical History with Seth MacFarlane, was revealed as part of the full programming lineup announced by D23. Per the official description, fans can “Join Grammy-nominated vocalist and Emmy winner Seth MacFarlane and other special guests for a conversation about the timeless Muppets songbook.” The session takes place Friday, August 14 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on the Walt Disney Archives Stage at the Anaheim Convention Center.
No other details about the album have been announced, including a track list, release date, or whether the Muppets themselves will perform on it. Given that the panel promises special guests, it would hardly be a surprise if a felt friend or two dropped by the Archives Stage.
A Natural Fit For The Muppets Songbook
While best known as the creator of Family Guy, MacFarlane has built a serious parallel career as a big band and orchestral pop vocalist, earning multiple Grammy nominations for his studio albums. The Muppets songbook, spanning classics like Rainbow Connection and the songs of The Muppet Show, gives him decades of material to draw from. The timing could not be better either, with the franchise celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show and riding a wave of renewed attention.
