A Need For Speed On ABC
The 1994 action classic Speed is buckling up for a spot on ABC. The Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock thriller will air as part of the network’s summer Sunday night movie tradition, joining a slate of crowd-pleasing favorites. For a film built entirely around a bus that cannot slow down, a broadcast slot on Disney-owned ABC is a fitting new stop.
Speed follows LAPD officer Jack Traven as he races to stop a bomb rigged to explode if a city bus drops below 50 miles per hour. The film was a major box office hit, won two Academy Awards, and helped cement both Reeves and Bullock as leading Hollywood stars.

According to ABC, Speed is one of several throwback titles airing on Sunday nights this summer, alongside films such as The Sandlot, Sister Act, Independence Day, True Lies, and Cocktail. The network is also airing a run of Wonderful World of Disney movies over the season, including Moana, Toy Story 4, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Princess Diaries, and The Parent Trap.
