A New Simpsons Episode Heads To Disney+
The Simpsons are back with another Disney+ exclusive. A trailer has debuted for Simpsley, a new full-length episode of the long-running animated series arriving on the streaming service Friday, July 3. The release is the second of three all-new Simpsons episodes coming exclusively to Disney+ this summer, following Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition, which premiered June 17.
These exclusive episodes have become a fun way for Disney+ to keep one of the most iconic animated franchises in the world active on the service between full seasons of the flagship show.
What We Know So Far
According to Disney+, Simpsley is a noir sendup in which penniless con-artist Marge Bouvier is sent to Italy to convince wealthy sap Seymour Skinner to come home, only to be tempted by the trappings of his affluent lifestyle. Complicating matters is Skinner’s clingy houseguest, Homer Simpsley. The episode is a riff on The Talented Mr. Ripley, and its trailer has now arrived ahead of the July 3 premiere.
Here’s the trailer:
Disney has leaned on The Simpsons repeatedly since acquiring the franchise through its purchase of 21st Century Fox, using exclusive episodes and shorts to keep new content flowing beyond the series’ regular broadcast run on FOX. The summer slate wraps with Yellow Mirror, a Black Mirror parody streaming August 26.
The Simpsons On Disney+
Disney+ remains the exclusive streaming home for The Simpsons, hosting the show’s full library of seasons along with a growing collection of exclusive episodes and shorts. Simpsley arrives Friday, July 3 for subscribers to stream.
