The Disneyland Hotel Security Checkpoint Canopy Is Light Blue Too

Guests at the Disneyland Hotel at the Disneyland Resort

The light blue on Disneyland’s new Esplanade security checkpoint canopy may be here to stay. The security checkpoint canopy at the Disneyland Hotel is the same light blue, we noticed on Saturday morning, October 24.

When the cover showed up on the Esplanade checkpoint on Friday, we wondered whether the blue was only temporary, since the screening canopies guests use on the Esplanade today are a darker green. Our photo from the hotel side points the other way.

What The New Photos Show

Our video from above the Esplanade shows the new checkpoint’s long, flat canopy in pale blue, set on thin posts beside the construction wall. Below it, the concrete is still a work zone, with plastic sheeting and cones near one end and dirt still being worked past the fence.

The hotel photo is a different scene. The Disneyland Hotel checkpoint is in use, and its canopy is a light blue tent with a scalloped yellow and white edge, stretched over the screening lanes. Guests are walking up to it with the hotel tower and palm trees behind it.

The matching color makes us think the blue is most likely permanent. Disney has not said what color the finished Esplanade checkpoint will be, so the hotel canopy is the best clue for now.

Where The Esplanade Checkpoint Stands

The new checkpoint is being built on the east end of the Esplanade, on the spot where the old ticket booths stood. Disneyland said in September that east security screening would move there so work on the rest of the Esplanade could keep going, and the last two ticket booths on that side came down the week of October 12. Frames for the checkpoint started rising the week before, and by October 14 the structure looked nearly ready for its cover, though a high-wind event that weekend was expected to delay the canopy. The canopy was in place on Friday, as we reported in Disneyland’s New Esplanade Security Checkpoint Gets Its Blue Canopy.

Disney has not announced an opening date for the new checkpoint. Until it opens, guests coming from the east side still go through the existing screening area.

If You Are Heading To The Parks

Nothing changes for guests today. The checkpoint at the Disneyland Hotel is in use under its blue canopy, while the new Esplanade checkpoint is still a work zone.
