Din Djarin and Grogu make the last stop on their journey home Tuesday. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu begins streaming on Disney+ on September 2, Lucasfilm confirmed on StarWars.com, completing a home release rollout that started with digital platforms on July 21 and reached 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on August 25.
The Disney+ date means anyone with a subscription can watch Jon Favreau’s big-screen Star Wars adventure at no extra cost starting next week, a little over three months after the film opened in theaters on May 22. Favreau directed from a script he wrote with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, with Pedro Pascal back as the Mandalorian alongside Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward and Jeremy Allen White voicing Rotta the Hutt. The feature runs 133 minutes and carries a PG-13 rating.
The Bonus Features Are Worth A Look
The home release is not a bare-bones affair. Both the digital and physical editions carry a full audio commentary track from Favreau, plus four behind-the-scenes featurettes. Crafting The Mandalorian and Grogu digs into the puppetry, miniatures, sound design and visual effects behind the film. Biomes, From Snow to Swamp follows the crew as they build two new worlds with a familiar original trilogy flavor. Welcome to Shakari tours the bustling Star Wars city the fabrication team constructed from the ground up, built inside a downtown warehouse. And Dejarik for Real shows how the tiny holochess creatures from the Millennium Falcon’s game table, first glimpsed in 1977, were brought to life at full scale.
Physical collectors get options on top of that. Alongside the standard 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions, Lucasfilm has a SteelBook and a Beskar Collector’s Edition with special packaging and metal posters, which StarWars.com lists among the physical offerings still rolling out. The 4K disc carries an English Dolby Atmos mix, and the digital version is available in Atmos on some platforms.
The Way Home
The September 2 streaming debut closes the loop on the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019 and puts the film in the same library as the three seasons of The Mandalorian that built its audience. Disney has kept the duo busy beyond the screen too, most recently linking them to Disneyland’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run through the Smugglers Gambit Fortnite crossover earlier this month.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu streams on Disney+ beginning September 2 and is available now on digital, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. The full bonus feature rundown is on StarWars.com.
