The biggest event on the Star Wars: Unlimited calendar is coming to Anaheim. Fantasy Flight Games has revealed that the 2027 Galactic Championship will be held at the Disneyland Hotel at the Disneyland Resort in May 2027, according to details shared exclusively with LaughingPlace as this year’s championship wraps up in Las Vegas.
What The Galactic Championship Actually Is
Star Wars: Unlimited is the trading card game Fantasy Flight launched on March 8, 2024 with its first set, Spark of Rebellion. The Galactic Championship serves as its premier annual tournament, the culmination of a full year of Organized Play, with qualified players from around the world converging on one venue to compete for the title of Galactic Champion.
The event runs three days and draws more than 3,000 attendees. The main tournament is only part of it. Programming includes side events, panels with the creators of the game, artist appearances, open play, exclusive merchandise and promos, and activities aimed at collectors rather than competitors. Side tournaments such as the Premier Open and the Eternal Open give players without qualifier points a way in, with prize wall tickets and qualifier points for the following season on the line.
Onsite rewards include event-only promo items, prize wall redemptions, specialty pins and token cards, the kind of limited-run material that tends to command real money afterward.
Why The Disneyland Hotel Is An Interesting Choice
Previous championships have been held in conventional convention and hotel space, including this year’s Las Vegas edition. Moving to the Disneyland Hotel puts a Lucasfilm-licensed tournament directly on Disney property, within the resort footprint that also contains Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
That proximity matters for an event that is as much a gathering as a competition. Attendees who travel for a three-day tournament can reach Batuu, Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop without leaving the resort, though the land sits inside Disneyland park itself and requires separate admission. It also lands during a period when Disneyland has been leaning harder into Star Wars programming, from seasonal After Dark events to new offerings inside the land.
What Has Not Been Announced Yet
Specific dates within May 2027 have not been shared, and neither have registration details, qualification requirements for the main event, or pricing. Fantasy Flight typically opens registration well ahead of the event and publishes the qualifier structure through its Organized Play calendar during the preceding season.
There is also no word yet on whether the event will include any Disneyland Resort tie-ins beyond the venue itself, such as park ticket packages or in-park activations. Anyone planning around it should watch for the official announcement rather than booking on the May window alone. Galaxy’s Edge has meanwhile continued to roll out limited-time offerings of its own, including a recent birthday drink at Oga’s Cantina. The full exclusive report is at LaughingPlace.
