Shocking video has emerged of the incident at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland that took place Sunday evening, June 21. TMZ has obtained footage captured by another theme park guest showing the moment a 13-year-old boy climbed out of his log ride vehicle just before the attraction’s famous 50-foot drop and tumbled down the water-covered track. We previously covered the incident here.
What the Video Shows
The footage, obtained exclusively by TMZ, shows the 13-year-old falling into the flume before sliding backwards down the 50-foot drop. A person believed to be a family member can be seen attempting to grab him before he disappears down the track. The video makes it clear just how remarkable it is that the boy escaped without serious injury. As TMZ noted, knowing the outcome does not make the footage any less difficult to watch for anyone familiar with the ride.
As we reported, Disneyland officials confirmed the incident through reporter Scott Gustin, stating that the guest exited the ride vehicle before the attraction ended, the ride was immediately stopped, and the boy was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. He was evaluated and released. Cal/OSHA inspectors were also on site Monday morning, reviewed the attraction, and cleared it to reopen. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently operating normally.
A Lucky Escape
The video makes the boy’s survival without serious injury all the more remarkable. The drop at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is approximately 50 feet, and the track is a steep, water-covered surface with no padding or soft landing. Multiple witnesses who were at the park on Sunday described the moment as deeply disturbing, with at least one family leaving the park entirely after a child in their group witnessed the fall.
The incident has sparked renewed discussion online about safety restraints on log flume attractions. Unlike most major theme park rides, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does not use lap bars or seat belts, which is standard practice for log flume rides that rely on seated guests remaining in position. Whether Disney will make any changes to the attraction’s boarding procedures or restraint systems in the wake of this incident remains to be seen.

The actual video of the kid falling over the drop on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure looks so much more frightening than what was described. I’m really glad he’s ok pic.twitter.com/tuxpowIVtv
