The season 2 premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville ended on a personal note. After “Going Rogue” aired on ABC on Oct. 15, the show put up an “In Loving Memory” title card with the name and photo of Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of Chad Lowe, an executive producer on the show who directed the premiere himself.
Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, announced Fiona’s death on September 29. Extra was among the outlets that noted the tribute.
Remembering Fiona
Chad Lowe has directed episodes of all three 9-1-1 shows and played Robert Strand on 9-1-1: Lone Star, the on-screen brother of Owen Strand, the firefighter played by his real-life brother Rob Lowe. Many viewers also know him as Jesse McKenna from Life Goes On and Byron Montgomery from Pretty Little Liars.
In a statement to People, the family said, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.” They described her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance,” adding, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.” Fiona’s older sister Mabel, 17, wrote on Instagram, “I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive.” The family also has a younger daughter, Nixie, 10.
The family asked that anyone who is struggling reach out for help through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
About The Premiere
“Going Rogue” aired Thursday, October 15 at 9 p.m. ET, right after the flagship 9-1-1. ABC’s logline has the 113 responding to a museum overrun by murder hornets while newcomer Det. Rogue Kelly, played by Ryan Phillippe, looks into a string of ominous crimes “of biblical proportions.” Blythe and Dixie also face the fallout from their brawl, and Don pays a price too.
Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and LeAnn Rimes lead the cast. The episode is streaming on Hulu, where new episodes arrive the day after they air. The flagship 9-1-1 opened its 10th season the same night.
