Downtown Disney construction took a visible step forward in mid-October at both of the district’s new restaurant sites. Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon went vertical on the former Tortilla Jo’s site near the LEGO Store, and the future Porto’s Bakery and Cafe site has been leveled.
The Disney Scoop’s Matt Desmond, who has been following the work at the Disneyland Resort for almost a year, caught both changes. He also spotted what he called “by far the strangest development” yet: the Star Wars LEGO display outside the LEGO Store has been taken apart.
Arthur and Sons Steak and Bourbon has gone vertical! The new restaurant will sit on the former site of Tortilla Joe’s on the west end of Downtown Disney near The LEGO Store at the Disneyland Resort!

What Arthur & Sons Will Be
Arthur & Sons is a classic steakhouse from Michelin-starred chef Joe Isidori. Plans call for a center bar, prime beef, fresh seafood, sandwiches and salads, plus a large bourbon list and cocktails, as Laughing Place reported when the restaurant’s ads appeared on the construction walls. It takes over the space Tortilla Jo’s left behind when it closed in April 2024 after 20 years in Downtown Disney.
Isidori is also behind Pearl’s Roadside BBQ, a quick-service spot going into the same building with pulled pork and beef brisket on the menu. Disney has not announced an opening date for either restaurant.
Porto’s Clears The Ground
The giant mounds of dirt at the Porto’s site have been cleared, leaving flat, leveled ground. In August 2024, Porto’s said its Downtown Disney bakery would be its seventh location, coming in 2025. That year passed without an opening, and no new date has been given.
Matt’s question now is whether vertical work starts next.
HUGE update from the Porto’s construction site in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort! The giant mounds of dirt are gone and the ground has been leveled! Are we going vertical soon?

The LEGO Star Wars Display Comes Apart
The third change came right outside the LEGO Store, where the Star Wars LEGO display that went up in May has been disassembled. Neither Disney nor LEGO has said why it was taken apart or whether it will be back.
For some reason they have disassembled the Star Wars LEGO display that went up outside the LEGO Store in Downtown Disney in May. I’ve been following this construction at the Disneyland Resort for almost a year now and this is by far the strangest development.

It is one more change in a district full of construction, from the scrims that spread from Napolini to Salt and Straw in September to the restaurants rising behind the walls. We will keep checking on all three spots as the work moves along.
