Ariel and Charlotte La Bouff are the newest limited-edition Disney Designer Dolls, joining the line’s Dance Series, which dresses classic characters as if they’re about to take the stage. Both are coming to DisneyStore.com this month, and Lottie is already on shelves at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World.
This is the second year of the Dance Series. For this year’s art style, product design manager Steve Thompson drew on vintage dance posters so the lighting, poses and movement would feel theatrical, while still matching the artwork from the series’ first year.
Ariel Trades Her Tail For A Jellyfish Gown

Ariel’s gown is an original design rather than anything she wears in The Little Mermaid. Designer J. Fuchs pictured a ballet under the sea and took inspiration from the flowing motion of jellyfish. “Ariel would definitely have something with lots of shimmer and motion,” Fuchs said in a Disney Parks Blog post.
A mesh bodice sits over a sequined puff peplum, the skirt is built from organza and metallic curled ribbon, and foiled bubbles are scattered across the gown. Her red hair is pinned with a metallic clip that matches her breastplate, and she wears drop earrings, gold chains and iridescent wristbands.
Lottie Gets Her Mardi Gras Moment

Lottie, Tiana’s best friend from The Princess and the Frog, wears an over-the-top Southern belle ballgown fit for a Mardi Gras parade, with satin layers, bows and ruffles, organza puffed sleeves and a big tulle underskirt. She carries a fan and wears satin gloves, strappy heels, faux pearls, faceted gems and a tiara.
Marcel, Lottie’s childhood cat, is embroidered on her skirt and sculpted onto the strap of her shoes. Fuchs called Lottie “a natural choice” for the Dance Series, given “that amazing dress and her flair for the dramatic.”
How To Get Them
Both dolls’ packaging has gold foil decorations, ribbon ties and a swirl of pixie dust around each character in the artwork. Packaging matters to collectors who keep their dolls boxed.
Ariel goes on sale October 23 at 8 a.m. PT on DisneyStore.com and arrives at select Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World locations October 26. Lottie is already at select locations in both resorts and comes to DisneyStore.com October 30 at 8 a.m. Disney has not announced prices or edition sizes.
The pair follows the Walt Disney World 55th Anniversary Cinderella doll, which hit DisneyStore.com October 12 alongside other 55th anniversary merchandise at Disney Store. Its gown is inspired by the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, with carrousel horses galloping along the hem.
