Dumbo the Flying Elephant is flying again at Tokyo Disneyland. The Fantasyland spinner reopened on October 23 after a suspension that began January 5, according to Tokyo Disney Resort’s closure schedule, which listed the ride as closed through October 22. That is more than nine months without one of the park’s classic family rides.
Tokyo Disney Resort fan MezzoMiki flagged the return as the date arrived in Japan, posting that the ride, suspended since January 5, 2026, was back as of October 23, 2026.
What To Know Before You Ride
The ride itself is the one fans know. Guests climb into one of the flying elephants, two to a vehicle, and circle the ride’s center for about a minute and a half, with Cinderella Castle rising just beyond the canopy. Tokyo Disney Resort’s attraction page lists no height requirement, though guests who cannot sit steadily on their own in a moving vehicle are not allowed to ride, and operations can be paused for weather or entertainment.
The resort’s schedule does not say what work was done during the long closure, and Oriental Land Company, which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort, has not published details on the ride’s page.
What Is Still Closed At Tokyo Disneyland
Dumbo’s return does not clear the park’s closure list. In Fantasyland, Cinderella’s Fairy Tale Hall closed October 1 and still has no end date on the schedule, and the Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland has been listed as suspended since April 2022 and has no reopening date posted. Also in Adventureland, The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents “Aloha E Komo Mai!” is listed as closed through October 23, reopening the next day.
More closures are coming. Goofy’s Paint ‘n’ Play House in Toontown is scheduled to be down October 26 to 30, and Stitch Encounter in Tomorrowland November 2 to 30. Early 2027 is busier, with Fantasyland’s Peter Pan’s Flight closed January 6 to February 2, Adventureland’s Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions January 6 to March 30, Critter Country’s Splash Mountain January 7 to February 4 and Fantasyland’s Haunted Mansion January 8 to February 4. That means two of the park’s Fantasyland dark rides are down at the same time in January. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and Mickey’s PhilharMagic follow between February and early April. Tokyo Disney Resort notes that these periods can change, so check the schedule again before a trip.
