San Diego Comic-Con opened its exhibit hall for Preview Night on Wednesday, and Marvel Studios wasted no time turning its booth into a shrine for Avengers: Doomsday. Costumes from the December blockbuster are now on display, giving fans their closest look yet at the heroes and villains who will collide when the film arrives in theaters on December 18.
X-Men Suits Stand Front And Center
The costume lineup leans heavily into the film’s X-Men roster. Suits for Cyclops, Gambit, and the Invisible Woman are displayed alongside Thor’s latest armor, Captain America, and Yelena Belova, confirming just how central the mutants will be to the story, and the display has kept growing throughout the convention with additions like Mister Fantastic and Ant-Man. A towering Sentinel head looms over the booth as well, sporting a design that closely echoes the classic comics and the beloved 1997 X-Men animated series rather than the machines seen in previous live action films. It also matches the menacing robots glimpsed in the first trailer that arrived five days early ahead of the convention.
First Look At A Latverian Witch
The biggest surprise is a costume identified as a Latverian Witch, a character who has never appeared on screen before. Staged against a stained glass window, the mannequin wears flowing green robes fastened with metallic clasps, a hood that partially obscures a silver face mask, silver gloves, and a green belt with a silver diamond buckle whose meaning has not been explained. The design unmistakably echoes Doctor Doom’s visual language, suggesting Victor Von Doom’s homeland of Latveria will bring more than just soldiers and Doombots to the fight, and fans have spent the day debating who could be beneath the mask.
A Doomsday Takeover Ahead Of Hall H
Marvel is also displaying a special Avengers: Doomsday themed version of its studio logo at the booth, part of a convention-wide takeover building toward the studio’s return to Hall H on Saturday evening. Nearby sections of the booth are themed to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, complete with X-Men merchandise and a Wolverine photo opportunity tied to Insomniac Games’ upcoming release. Additional photos of the full booth can be found at LaughingPlace, and we expect plenty more reveals once the panel begins.
