Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto is the official name of the Encanto attraction coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, revealed on Saturday, August 15 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event alongside a new look at the ride and word that the film’s cast is returning. The attraction sits in the Pueblo Esperanza area of the coming Tropical Americas land.
A Gift Day Celebration Inside Casita
The ride celebrates Antonio Madrigal’s magical gift of communicating with animals, a natural match for Animal Kingdom’s dedication to the animal world. Guests are invited into Casita as part of a joyful celebration of Antonio’s gift day, the ceremony where each Madrigal child receives their miracle, and the story’s stated message is that every living thing belongs to the same familia whether or not it has a gift. Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush, who wrote and directed the film, appeared during the showcase to present the attraction, and Disney confirmed the film’s voice cast will reprise their roles, showing behind-the-scenes video of the recording sessions. Stephanie Beatriz, Jessica Darrow and Diane Guerrero are all back as Mirabel, Luisa and Isabela.
Furniture For Ride Vehicles, And No Height Requirement
The detail that got the biggest reaction is what guests actually ride in. Boarding happens inside Casita, and the vehicles are designed to look like ordinary pieces of furniture that the house has magically assembled and brought to life. They react to the scenes around them as the ride moves, which is a far more specific answer than Disney has given about most of its in-development attractions. The company still has not named the underlying ride system.
Families get the other headline: the attraction has no height requirement, so every member of a group can ride together regardless of age. That tracks with what Disney showed at the Friday, August 14 Imagineering pavilion preview, where the ride vehicle was revealed alongside a scene of animal Audio-Animatronics figures gathered for the gift ceremony, and coverage from News 6 Orlando confirms the official name and the gift day framing.
Original Casita Rooms And More Than 50 Animals
Jared Bush set expectations about as high as they go, telling fans to “Just picture the most quintessential, classic Disney attraction” and imagine it filled with Encanto’s magic. The ride will take guests through all-new, original rooms of Casita that do not appear in the film, created through a partnership between Imagineering and Walt Disney Animation Studios that expands the world of Encanto beyond the movie. The route ends in Antonio’s room, transformed into a lush rainforest, and Disney says more than 50 animal species will be represented across the attraction, drawn from Colombian wildlife and including a capybara, a toucan and a donkey. For a park built on the animal world, that headcount is the argument for why this ride belongs at Animal Kingdom rather than anywhere else.
Tropical Americas Keeps Filling In
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto joins Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, which also received its official name at the showcase, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, the land’s carousel, which will carry 22 hand-carved animals inspired by Disney and Pixar films. All three sit within the wider Pueblo Esperanza village in the land replacing DinoLand U.S.A., alongside a large hacienda that will be one of the biggest quick service restaurants on Walt Disney World property and a Maya-inspired play area where children dig for artifacts. The Encanto side of the project has been visibly rising for months, and the pace picked up this summer when rockwork steel for the attraction started climbing at Animal Kingdom.
For a film that became a generational phenomenon on the strength of one house and one family, putting guests inside Casita for a party is about as direct a translation as Imagineering can make. Disney has not announced an opening date for the attraction, though the land itself has long been targeted for a 2027 debut. Expect character details, music and the ride system reveal to trickle out as construction continues, along with word on how the celebration handles the film’s songbook. If the gift day ceremony gets its own party soundtrack, that news writes itself. Full details on the attraction are at LaughingPlace.
