Disneyland’s East Security screening area is moving onto the ground where the east Esplanade ticket booths stood. Disneyland said the shift will happen once construction on that site is finished, according to theme park reporter Scott Gustin, who shared the plan Friday morning.

It is an interim spot. In a follow-up post, Gustin said security will eventually move elsewhere, and that the shift lets work on the Esplanade continue.
What The Site Looks Like Now
Photos taken September 16 show the booths gone and the pad turned into a graded dirt lot behind construction walls, with excavators working inside.
The last of the booths were gone by September 8. Friday’s update is the first word from Disneyland on what the space will be used for.
Demolition began at the start of September, days after the resort’s digital map dropped the booths. Walk-up ticket sales had already moved to the booth near Disneyland’s entrance that also handles Lost and Found.
Why The Esplanade Is Being Rebuilt
The work is tied to the parking structure and transportation hub on the east side of the resort, which broke ground on August 24 on the Manchester lot east of Harbor Boulevard. Plans call for roughly 6,000 parking spaces and security screening at the new structure.
The plans also include a pedestrian bridge between the new structure and Harbor Boulevard.
Moving east-side screening across Harbor has been in the plans for years. When Disneyland moved its west-side checkpoints in 2016, the east checkpoint stayed put, with plans for it to eventually move east of Harbor Boulevard once a new parking garage was built.
What Guests Should Expect
East Security screens guests entering from Harbor Boulevard, including those walking from nearby hotels and riding the Toy Story parking lot shuttles.
For now, nothing changes at the east entrance. Disneyland has not given a date for the move onto the old booth site. Once it happens, screening will sit where guests used to line up to buy tickets.
