Pixar Pier has a new photo booth, and it is themed to the one Pixar property that already owns that corner of the boardwalk. Core Memories, an Inside Out photo booth, has opened at Disney California Adventure between Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff.

The name is the giveaway. Core memories are the glowing orbs that power Riley’s personality islands in both Inside Out films, and the booth wears them on the outside. Inside, guests get a set of themed photo options that are not limited to Inside Out characters, so the booth works as a general Pixar Pier souvenir stop as much as a tie-in.
Filling In The Inside Out Corner
This stretch of Pixar Pier has been quietly turning into a small Inside Out district. Emotional Whirlwind, the spinner that took over the old Flik’s Flyers footprint, sits on one side. Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, the candy shop that opened with the pier’s 2018 transformation, sits on the other. A photo booth between them gives the pocket a third anchor and a reason to stop rather than pass through on the way to the Incredicoaster.
It also arrives while the franchise is still carrying real weight. Inside Out 2 finished its 2024 run as Pixar’s highest grossing film, and Riley’s emotions have stayed a fixture of the resort’s merchandise and character lineup since.
What The Booth Is And Is Not
This is a photo booth, not an attraction, and it is worth being clear about that. Disney has not announced PhotoPass integration or published pricing, and there is no reservation involved. You walk up. On its first afternoon the booth was busy enough that early visitors could not get inside to try it, which for a photo booth on a Tuesday is a decent sign the placement is right.
The exterior detailing is where Disney spent its effort. The core memory orbs are the whole facade, which makes the booth read as part of the Inside Out corner rather than a generic kiosk, and it sits within a few steps of both the ride and the candy shop.
A Small Add In A Busy Park
Disney California Adventure is in the middle of a heavy construction period, with the Avengers Campus expansion rising over Hollywood Land and scrims covering everything from Ariel’s Undersea Adventure to the park facing side of the Grand Californian. A photo booth is a small counterweight to all of that, but it is the kind of small add the resort has been making lately: themed to the land it sits in, placed where people are already standing, and installed without a closure or an announcement. Disney did not put out a release for it. The booth simply appeared, which is how most of the pier’s smaller changes tend to arrive.
The booth is open now. Guests looking for it should head for the Emotional Whirlwind entrance and look toward the candy shop.
