Mickey Mouse is taking the wheel for a good cause. Disney and Formula 1 have unveiled a pair of custom racing helmets created in partnership with Make-A-Wish, a first-of-its-kind collaboration designed to help grant life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses.
Designed By The Voice Of Mickey Himself
According to The Walt Disney Company, the helmets were created with Bell Racing and hand-designed by Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse, under the creative direction of Bobby Kim, Global Creative Director of Disney Consumer Products. The design features a matte black base with high-gloss graphics in bold red and yellow, translating Mickey into a racing context through track-inspired striping and numbering. A subtle Make-A-Wish shooting star trails just behind Mickey’s shoe as he races forward, symbolizing hope and the power of a wish. Each helmet comes in a custom display box with a plexiglass case and a certificate of authenticity signed by both Iwan and Kim.
Signed By F1 Stars And Headed To Auction
The first helmet made its public debut during race weekend at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and it has already been signed by drivers including Kimi Antonelli, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and Make-A-Wish France ambassador Pierre Gasly. It will be auctioned through F1 Authentics, operated under license by Memento Exclusives, with net proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish International.
The Second Helmet Heads To D23
Fans who miss the auction can see the second helmet in person at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, running August 14 through 16. The helmets extend Disney’s season-long “Fuel the Magic” collaboration with Formula 1 and continue the company’s long-standing relationship with Make-A-Wish, which stretches back more than 45 years. The D23 appearance joins a packed show floor of experiences we have covered, like the X-Men 97 Season 2 promotions rolling out this summer.
