Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake has its first look, one day before it debuts. Disneyland Resort revealed a first glimpse of the new Haunted Mansion street party Monday afternoon, and the timing is no accident: Oogie Boogie Bash opens its 2026 run at Disney California Adventure on Tuesday, August 18, with the Swinging Wake as the party’s headline new entertainment.
A Seance In The Streets
Officially titled Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, A Haunted Mansion Street Party, the offering brings familiar moments from the classic attraction into the streets of Disney California Adventure. Disney describes multiple show-stopping moments across the evening as Madame Leota hosts her spirited seance and swinging wake, filled with happy haunts, ghostly dancing and an open invitation to all 999 ghosts. The official Disneyland page pitches it as the street coming alive with spooky music, energetic dancing and spirited characters.
The street party is exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash, which means a valid special event ticket is required to see it. It joins the Headless Horseman element announced earlier this year, with Ichabod Crane hurrying through the park while evading the specter astride his dark steed at select times each night.
What It Replaces And Why
The Swinging Wake steps into the slot held for years by the Frightfully Fun Parade, which is not running in 2026. Construction on the upcoming Coco attraction cuts into the parade route and its backstage access, so a street party format that does not need a full parade path is the workaround. That same construction already reshaped other pieces of this year’s party, as we covered when the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party dropped its parade viewing component.
A Record 33 Nights
Oogie Boogie Bash runs on 33 select nights from August 18 through October 31 this year, two more dates than last year’s run, which was itself a record. The separately ticketed event includes park admission starting three hours before the party, treat trails lined with villains, Villains Grove at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and Disney PhotoPass downloads included with the ticket.
The first look arrives with the party less than 24 hours away, which makes Tuesday night the real reveal. Whether the Swinging Wake can carry the entertainment weight the Frightfully Fun Parade used to shoulder is the question every Bash regular will be answering this week.
