Walt Disney World Is Testing AI-Powered Search On Its Website And App

Disney’s push to modernize its digital vacation-planning tools is picking up steam, and artificial intelligence is at the center of it. Following the confirmed rollout of AI-powered search coming to the My Disney Experience app, the official Walt Disney World website has been spotted testing its own AI-powered search feature, labeled “Cast Preview,” which places AI-generated answers above standard search results, as reported by WDWMagic.

Fixing A Long-Standing Search Headache

The goal is to fix a genuinely clunky search experience. During a media panel, Disney executives poked fun at their own current system, noting that searching “chicken tenders” in Magic Kingdom currently surfaces Chicken Guy at Disney Springs, miles away, as the top result. The new AI search uses natural language processing to scan the entire resort database and deliver a clean summary at the top of the results. Ask for “a ride in space” and it would serve up Space Mountain, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Mission: SPACE with descriptions and booking buttons, rather than a confusing list of links.

Still Early And Experimental

The website test is clearly early-stage. The “Cast Preview” label is Disney’s designation for features being tested by employees before a wider release, and reports indicate the feature was still returning limited responses for most queries. There are also inherent risks with AI search, chiefly the possibility of hallucinated answers giving guests incorrect park hours or reservation details in a high-stakes vacation setting, so a cautious rollout makes sense.

The AI search is part of a broader 2026 digital overhaul that also includes a redesigned My Disney Experience app with a trip-centric home screen, a new Trip Checklist, and Spanish-language support. Disney has not confirmed which AI models power the feature. For more on the app refresh, check out our coverage of Spanish language support arriving on the Disney apps.
