The balloons echo the bunch that carries Carl and Ellie’s house into the sky in Pixar’s Up. Disneyland Paris said in April that construction on the ride was already well under way, and the Up details are now going in. The balloon toppers had arrived on site by early October, according to DLP Report.
What Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings Will Be
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will be a family swing ride in the style of a classic flying-chair carousel. Disneyland Paris says it will seat 64 riders on 48 chairs, with several two-seat chairs so guests can ride in pairs. As it spins, the canopy above will tilt to add to the feeling of flight.
The name comes from the Wilderness Explorers, the scouting club Russell belongs to in the film. In the ride’s story, guests earn the Aviation badge as music from Up plays. The ride will sit on Adventure Way, just across from Raiponce Tangled Spin, and its architecture will mix Art Nouveau with industrial touches like wrought iron arches and balloon and cloud motifs. A golden spike shaped like Carl and Ellie’s house will top the attraction, a nod to the Pascal figure perched on Tangled Spin’s roof.
The queue will be split into four zones, each representing a key moment from the film, with props that include Carl’s childhood aviator helmet and goggles and Ellie’s adventure book. The ride will anchor a new Up-themed garden. Imagineers officially started construction in November 2025, and Disneyland Paris has not given an exact opening date beyond 2027.
