Three Newcomers Join Catherine Laga’aia And Deacon Phillippe In Disney+’s Spaceship Earth Pilot

Disney+ has rounded out the main cast of its Spaceship Earth pilot. Maeve Touhey, Ta’imua and Freddie O’Donahue have joined the sci-fi project inspired by the EPCOT attraction, filling the remaining series regular roles, Deadline reported on October 21.

The three newcomers will star alongside Catherine Laga’aia and Deacon Phillippe, who were announced as the leads earlier this month. As with that first round of casting, Disney is keeping the characters under wraps.

Who Joins The Spaceship Earth Pilot

Touhey, who is based in New York City, makes her acting debut with the pilot. She also records music as Maeve, has had airplay on SiriusXM Hits 1 and is preparing her debut project.

Hawaii-based Ta’imua most recently starred in the Oscar-nominated short Jane Austen’s Period Drama and has appeared in Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told and ABC’s Doctor Odyssey.

O’Donahue, who was raised in New York City by British parents, will appear next year with Kate Burton and Michael Gaston in A Great Depression. He will also lead the thriller Bullies Anonymous opposite Robyn Lively and Bill Sage.

They join two leads who already have a public profile. Laga’aia played the title role in Disney’s live-action Moana, which opened in theaters on July 10, 2026. Phillippe, the son of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, made his feature film debut in the indie sci-fi thriller Brother Save Us, which premiered at the Nashville Film Festival on September 26. Their casting was announced October 12.

What The Show Is About

Disney+ ordered the pilot on August 6. The show isn’t a retelling of the ride but a teen sci-fi adventure: when a mission to stop a global catastrophe goes wrong, a small group of teenagers from different points in Earth’s past and future have to work together against a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.

Jason Fuchs, a co-showrunner of HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry, is the showrunner and wrote the pilot with Loki creator Michael Waldron. Lee Toland Krieger, whose credits include You and Shadow and Bone, directs. Fuchs, Waldron and Krieger executive produce with Adam Fishbach and Adam Fasullo, and 20th Television is the studio.

Still Just A Pilot

With its series regulars set, the project is still a pilot order, not a series order. No production start or premiere window has been announced for Spaceship Earth.

The ride that inspired it has operated inside EPCOT’s geodesic sphere since the park opened in 1982. It carries guests through the history of human communication, from cave paintings to the computer age.
