Sandra Hüller is part of Avengers: Doomsday. The Oscar-nominated German actress has a cameo in Marvel Studios’ next Avengers movie, which opens December 18, and as usual with this film, nobody is saying who she plays.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed her involvement on Friday, and Variety followed with its own report. Marvel had no comment, which is standard for the studio on casting.

What We Know About Her Role
Very little. The part is being described as a cameo, and the details are being kept under wraps. Her name first surfaced a couple of weeks ago when it appeared on the British Stunt Register, and fans have been guessing ever since.
The popular theories tie her to Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Some fans think she could play Doom’s mother, while others think she could be one of the Latverian Witches, the hooded enchantresses whose color-coded robes Marvel put on display at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. None of that has been confirmed, so treat it as fan speculation until Marvel shows its hand.
A Busy Year For Sandra Hüller
Hüller broke through with American audiences in 2023, starring in both Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest. Anatomy of a Fall earned her a best actress Oscar nomination, and both films were best picture nominees.
This year she played Eva Stratt, the woman who recruits Ryan Gosling to save the planet in Project Hail Mary, and she was most recently seen as the half-sister of Tom Cruise’s title character in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger. Doomsday will make five 2026 releases for her, after Rose, Project Hail Mary, Fatherland and Digger.
A Crowded Cast
She joins a packed ensemble. Downey returns to the MCU as Victor von Doom, and Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers. The cast also includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston and Channing Tatum, along with actors from the Black Panther, Thunderbolts*, Fantastic Four and X-Men films.
Anthony and Joe Russo are directing, and the film is deep in post-production ahead of its December 18 release. Marvel also debuted a new Avengers: Doomsday preview during Game 1 of the World Series on Friday night, though there is no word on whether Hüller will appear in any of the marketing before the film opens.
