Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Delayed To 2027 As Developer Aims For Quality

Fans of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will need to keep waiting. The highly anticipated video game from EA and developer Skydance New Media will not arrive until 2027 at the earliest, according to a new report.

Cosmic Marvel shared the news citing IGN, which reported that while the game is playable and exists on developer Amy Hennig’s hard drive, the team has big ambitions for the quality they want to hit before release. “It’s happening. It’s playable,” Hennig reportedly said, while making clear that a 2026 release is off the table.

What Is Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra?

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an action-adventure game set during World War II, featuring Captain America and Black Panther as playable characters. The game is being developed by Skydance New Media, the studio founded by Amy Hennig, the legendary game designer behind the Uncharted series. The project was announced in 2023 and drew immediate excitement given Hennig’s track record and the premise’s potential.

The wartime setting allows for an alternate history story that puts two iconic Marvel heroes together decades before they would meet in the comics’ present-day continuity. The game has been described as a story-driven, cinematic experience in the style of Hennig’s previous work.

A Delay Worth Waiting For

Hennig’s emphasis on quality over a rushed release date is consistent with her reputation. The Uncharted games were known for their polish and storytelling, and it appears she is holding Marvel 1943 to the same standard. A 2027 release would give the team additional time to deliver the experience they envisioned from the start.
