The Mickey Mouse Club Is Coming Back As Disney+ Orders A Pilot For A Reboot

The Mickey Mouse Club is officially coming back. Disney+ has ordered a pilot for a reboot of the legendary variety series, with production set to begin this month in Los Angeles, according to a report from Deadline. The project comes from Fulwell Entertainment, the company behind Hulu’s The Kardashians.

A New Generation Of Mouseketeers

The pilot will feature 11 young performers, and the roster already includes some familiar faces for Disney Channel fans. Camp Rock 3 stars Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, and Brooklynn Pitts are among the new class of Mouseketeers, giving the reboot a direct link to one of Disney’s biggest current franchises. They are joined by Erianthe Akaata (Young Rock), Scarlett London Diviney (The Lion King), Michael Cash (Black Rabbit), Yonas Kibreab (Elio), Varonica Mitchell, Kauani, Scarlett Grace Petty, and Carter Barnes. Casting young talent with built-in audiences follows the exact playbook that made earlier eras of the show so successful.

Disney describes the reboot as a “showcase for today’s most talented young performers, where music, innovation, and self-expression take center stage.” The pilot is executive produced by Fulwell co-founder Ben Winston, along with Ashley Edens, Emma Conway, and Dave Piendak.

The Mickey Mouse Club has one of the richest legacies in television. Created by Walt Disney himself, the concept began as a stage show in the 1920s before the original series ran on ABC from 1955 to 1959. It was rebooted as a syndicated series between 1977 and 1979, then revived by the Disney Channel in 1989. That run, which ended in 1996, became famous as a launching pad for future superstars, introducing the world to Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, and Keri Russell before any of them were household names. The franchise most recently returned in 2017 as Club Mickey Mouse, a digital-first revival.

Why This Matters For Disney+

A pilot order is not a series guarantee, but it signals that Disney+ sees value in developing young ensemble talent in-house again. The streamer has leaned harder into original programming built around its music-driven franchises, and standalone specials and event content have become a bigger part of its strategy. A modern Mickey Mouse Club could serve as a farm system for the next wave of Descendants, Zombies, and Camp Rock stars.

No premiere window has been announced. With cameras rolling in Los Angeles this month, more casting news should surface soon.
