Two more familiar faces could be headed back to William McKinley High. Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet are in talks to return as Brittany Pierce and Sam Evans in the Glee reboot for Disney+ and Hulu, Deadline reports.
Neither deal is final yet, but the reboot has been moving quickly. Disney+ and Hulu officially ordered the Glee reboot earlier this week, and on Wednesday word came that Lea Michele is in talks to play Rachel Berry again. Morris and Overstreet would make it three original cast members circling a return.
Who Brittany And Sam Were On Glee
Morris was there from the first season, when Brittany started out as one of the Cheerios on Sue Sylvester’s cheerleading squad and joined the glee club with her fellow cheerleaders in the show’s second episode. She was promoted to series regular for the second season, and in the final season Brittany married Santana Lopez, played by the late Naya Rivera, in a double wedding with Kurt and Blaine.
Overstreet joined in the second season as Sam, a transfer student who landed on the football team and then in New Directions. He stayed with the show through its final season, and in the series finale Sam took over as director of New Directions after Will Schuester became principal of McKinley.
What We Know About The Reboot
No casting was announced with the series order, and Disney has not confirmed any returning stars. Co-creator Ryan Murphy said last month that he had been in touch with about 10 members of the original cast. Murphy has also said the script is finished. Whenever it premieres, the reboot will bring Glee back more than a decade after its 2015 finale.
Glee, created by Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, ran for six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015. It followed New Directions, the glee club at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, as it competed on the show choir circuit, with musical numbers in every episode. The show won six Emmys, including awards for Murphy, for Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester, and for guest stars Neil Patrick Harris and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Where To Watch The Original
The original Glee streams on Hulu, so Brittany and Sam’s full stories are a few clicks away while the reboot sorts out who is coming back. Disney has not announced a premiere date for the new series yet.
