More track for the Monsters, Inc. door coaster is now in place inside the ride’s factory building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Construction photographer bioreconstruct posted new aerials of the site on Friday, October 30, and they show freshly installed track inside the structure, including a highly banked, twisting section.
From the look of it, crews are building the ride from the bottom up. The track that’s in place so far sits on the lowest levels of the building, and bioreconstruct expects the rest to be added level by level until it reaches the top.

Supports And Brake Platforms Wait On The Ground
Another shot looks down into the part of the building where the coaster runs on gravity. More track supports are lined up on the ground there, ready to go up. So are platforms for at least one brake run. On a coaster like this one, brake runs split the course into blocks so trains stay safely spaced apart.

Among the details are track supports staged on the ground. Also platforms staged on ground for at least one brake run that separates "blocks" of track.
Three more photos zoom in on the new pieces, with a steeply banked curve in the foreground of one. Just a week ago, his aerials showed Monsters, Inc. coaster track sections staged for placement beside the building. Now more of the track is up and connected inside. It adds to the highly banked track and big room supports he photographed earlier in October.

The Land Growing Around It
Riders will hang below the track on this suspended coaster, starting with the vertical lift Disney previewed in the video above. Outside, the steel frame of the building now rises above the tree line, and the first themed facades in Monstropolis are taking shape around it.
The coaster is only one piece of the land. Disney has also announced Harryhausen’s, the sushi restaurant from Mike and Celia’s date in the film, with the chef brought to life as an Audio-Animatronics figure. Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will sit next to the Monsters University Alumni Club, the Scareporium will sell souvenirs, and Mike and Sulley will host a new Glob Theater show called “Welcome to Monstropolis,” named for the song Randy Newman wrote for the land.
Disney says on the Disney Parks Blog that parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while work continues on the door coaster. There’s no opening date for the coaster yet, so for now, aerial photos like these are the best way to follow its progress.
