Monstropolis is starting to look like a city at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New aerial photos from construction photographer bioreconstruct on Friday, October 30, show construction at the land’s entrance gateway, its fountain and The Glob Theater, along with a look inside the Monsters, Inc. door coaster building.
The Way Into Monstropolis
The entrance gateway is the big change in this set. Three photos show construction at the gateway that will lead guests into the land.

Another photo shows construction on the land’s fountain. It also catches the “Try our Cans” billboard sitting above the restrooms entrance, the same sign that appeared in Monstropolis last week.

Construction At The Glob Theater
The set also includes an aerial look at The Glob Theater. It will host “Welcome to Monstropolis,” a new show that shares its name with the Randy Newman song written for the land. Nearby, the land will also be home to Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and Harryhausen’s, the sushi restaurant from Mike and Celia’s date in the film.

Inside The Door Coaster Building
Bioreconstruct also flew over the Monsters, Inc. suspended door coaster. A curved steel frame now covers the ceiling of the loading platforms, and track is staged on the upper floor, waiting to be hung from the flat ceiling there.

Track is staged on the upper floor. To be placed at the flat ceiling there. Similar to the the track seen at ceiling below (for service area route).
Drew Smith summed up the gateway photos simply: “Incredible progress on Monstropolis!” Earlier this month, the land showed off its first facades.
Echo Lake And A Mystery Project
The same flight passed over Echo Lake, where a refurbishment is underway, and bioreconstruct points out that from above, the lake also forms one of Mickey’s ears. In the corner of that photo is the frame of what he calls a mystery project.

Disney says on the Disney Parks Blog that parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while work continues on the door coaster. Disney hasn’t announced a specific opening date for the land or the coaster yet.
